I must learn to pray before it happens, before i can foresee what terrible event is to come. I must pray not during the storm, not during the calm before the storm, but even before the storm exists. not to say that prayer at these times is useless, but this is my big problem. I only pray fervently when I am in a fix. but when things are peachy, I become lazy. I become prideful and cocky and confident. i become susceptible to doubt. I lose humility. I begin to think that humility itself is an undesirable characteristic. it is at this moment when I think God finds it necessary to remind me that humility is the most essential characteristic of all. that pride is the worst vice, the greatest sin.
